    10/10, Worth The Money

I really only bought these for it's technical quality for it's price ( considering I was on a budget ) I can sit here for hours on end just listening to music with it's amazing quality. A problem I had with other headphones is, after wearing them for a fair amount of time, they would begin becoming uncomfortable, and/or hurting my ears. This pair however, does not do this. Very comfortable, even for very extended amounts of time. This only downside that's even worth noting would be, it's not the prettiest pair around, wouldn't call it ugly, but it isn't the most attractive out there. That's really all I have on it, so to wrap it up. It's got good quality sound, it's comfortable, very lightweight and durable, but not the most attractive. Note: I waited 6 weeks to review this product to get a good feel for it.

    PRO:

Good Value, Lightweight, Great Sound, Good Bass, Comfortable, Compact, Durable

    CON:

    Unattractive Design

    BEST USES:

    Music, With My Computer

    BOTTOM LINE:

I would recommend this to a friend.

    Excellent

I'm very impressed with the HD 280 Pro. It not only offers high quality sound but the overall comfort is great. It gives natural sound to the music allowing the music to be heard the way it was meant to. The bass is awsome, considering the fact the headphones tune out most sounds allowing the bass to be heard even more as well as the rest of the music. The comfort is great. The headband and earphones are very reinforced also cushioning. The one thing I will say is when I listen to the 280's with my prescription glasses and turn my head they lose a slightly noticeable amount of sound, not a lot but noticeable and may be a result of my glasses being in the way or being out of alignment. Non the less take off the glasses and they're perfect.

    PRO:

Durable, Good Value, Comfortable, Good Bass, Great Sound, Compact, Lightweight

    BEST USES:

With My Computer, Portable Devices, Music, Relaxing, Traveling

    BOTTOM LINE:

I would recommend this to a friend.

Best headphones I have ever had!

I have had this headphones I think for more then 6 years... They have been dropped for more then five hundred times and been used by mother and two little brothers. I never had a problem with a cord or the sound, they are so durable!!! The sound, especially the bass is so crystal clear! I would recommend this to everyone! The only downside it has after few hours of use ears hurt and become a bit sweaty. Other then that, they are perfect!

FAQ
  • How do I change the ear pads of my HD 280 PRO headphones?

To remove the ear pads of the HD 280 PRO headphones simply pull on the ear pad until it detaches from the ear cup.

The back side of the ear pads of the HD 280 PRO have a circle of leatherette. This circle of leatherette hooks into the groove on the HD 280 PRO ear cups to hold the ear pad in place. The easiest way to get the circle of leatherette into place is to hook part of the circle of leatherette into the groove then put your fingers inside the ear pad and push up and out until the leatherette circle hooks into place. Continue this motion all the way around the ear pad until the ear pad is fully in place.

Please review this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXqL7Q-tW6Y) to see how to change the ear pads of the HD 280 PRO headphones.

NOTE: This procedure is the same for all the different variants of the HD 280 Series like the HMD 280-13, HMD 280-XQ, HMD 281-13, HMD 281-XQ.

  • What is the difference between "open" and "closed" ear cups on headphones?

With Sennheiser headphones the audio will always be accurate and responsive and is sure to please no matter what situation you need it for.

An open (sometimes referred to as "open aire" headphone is one that uses some external airspace to reproduce life-like audio within the ear-cup. Think of it as having premium speakers next to your ears that you can control the volume for with extreme precision. The trade-off is that at extreme volumes some sound will leak out. Some of our "open aire" models include the HD 800, HD 700, HD 650, HD 600, HD 598, HD 558 and HD 518.

A closed headphone isolates you from your environment and vice-versa (ie: the sound is contained within the headphones). This is perfect for critical listening or a situation where you do not want to disturb/be disturbed. Some of our "closed" models include the MOMENTUM, Urbanite XL, HD 380 PRO, HD 280 PRO, HD 449 and HD 439.

  • Sound in only one ear or general sound issues.

If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source.

The first thing to do is ensure that you have the audio plug of the headphones connected securely into the audio device. A properly connected cable should not wiggle. If the plug wiggles that could indicate a loose connection. NOTE: This could be a result of the cable not being plugged all the way in or it could be a faulty input or sometimes if the device you are connecting to has a case on it the case will prevent the cable plugging in correctly.

The next thing to do is to check and make sure that there is no debris (ie: no dust or lint) in the headphone jack of the audio source that may be inhibiting connectivity and causing sound issues.

The next thing to do is to check that the connecting jack is clean. If oils from the hands gets builds up on the plug or sweat evaporates on the plug the salts and grime may prevent proper contact from occurring. The connecting jacks can be cleaned using a basic alcohol wipe.

The next thing to do is to try the headphones on a different audio source to check that it is not the original audio source (or a setting on the audio source) that is creating the issue. If you connect to an alternate audio source and the issue is not there then you know the headphones are fine and the original audio source is the issue. NOTE: Many modern audio devices have audio limit pre-set at the factory and these limit need to be changed to get the full audio signal out of the device and to the headphones.

  • What is the difference between the “old” HD 280 PRO and the “new” HD 280 PRO?
The “old” and “new” HD 280 PRO feature the same technical specifications and characteristics. The “new” HD 280 PRO have been redesigned to have cleaner aesthetics and a more comfortable fit.

  • Are the ear pads and headband band padding and cable replaceable?
Yes. Sennheiser offers replacement ear pads, headband padding and cables.

  • Are the ear pads of the HD 280 PRO real leather or leatherette?
The ear pads of the HD 280 PRO are made of a synthetic leatherette.

  • Is there a straight cable available?
No. The only cable Sennheiser offers for the HD 280 PRO is the coiled cable that comes standard with the headphones.

  • Why does Sennheiser not provide a straight cable for the HD 280 PRO?
The HD 280 PRO is designed primarily for professional applications (like working in a studio) and the 3 meter coiled cable keeps the cable contained and out of the way while providing enough length for good movement.

  • How much passive noise attenuation does the HD 280 PRO provide?
The HD 280 PRO can provide up to 32 dB of passive noise attenuation.
